Interestingly while we were introducing Mike to San ntonios Emerald Studios Sunny and Mitchell, we left a cassette of Tracie Lynn. Emerald subsequently produced an album for Tracie.

Mum passed away August 30, 1989

In 1989, Martin was looking for a unique birthday present for Chris. The result was a Hot Air Ballooning class at Austin Community College. The class was taught by Dan Sherrill who had catered our wedding from Railroad Bar BQ. Martin video taped the class as a memory and Dan asked if we'd want to produce a Crew Training tape for hot Air Ballooning. We did and the tape (now a DVD) has sold in all 50 states and in 15 foreign countries. It is the crew training standard for many events around the world.

Dan then asked us to document his Harris Branch balloon fest, the 1991 and 1992 Baltimore Preakness Balloon races and the Guanajuato, Mexico event (pics & video below). Subsequently we were asked to document the Poteet Strawberry Festival Balloon Race which resulted in an ongoing relationship with the Strawberry Festival to document their primary festival every couple of years.

Chris & Martin's Hot Air Balloon video production also took them to Washington DC for the Andrews Air Force Base Kodak ballooning event, the United Kingdom hot air balloon factories and additional events around Texas. Phantom was contracted to shoot a time lapse hot air balloon launch for NASA MCET. The opening sequence appeared in a series of NASA educational satellite broadcasts; then was made available on CD to schools & the National Air & Space Museum

Finding family...

In the mid '90's Chris & I (Martin) were preparing to go see Chris' family in England. I had received an email from an Andrew Theophilus in Stevenage, England. It turned out his family came from Swansea, Wales which is where my Dad's family was from. At the same time my Aunt Sally came across a family cousin in Pennsylvania who mentioned that an Uncle in Florida had my Great Grandparents wedding certificate. The Uncle FedExed the certificate and it arrived in Austin just as we were leaving for the Austin airport to fly to the UK.

We visited Andrew Theophilus family in Stevenage and then drove to Wales to see what could be found.

The Wales village where my Great Grandparents were married was Rhandirmwyn. It is in a beautiful setting. We were surprised to find one third of the grave yards are filled with Theophili. Chris & I found a pub store and they suggested we try talking to folks at the school. At the school, a man said we needed to meet Dorie Theophilus. He led us to her home. She pulled out Theophilus documents and brought us some tea. She then informed us that she needed to go shopping and left us in her home to look at the information. Dorie led us to William Theophilus and his family. We found similar links in our families, however no exact matches. We have continued to communicate with William and exchanged Christmas cards with Dorie. We were very saddened to learn that she passed away in 2007.
